Mental Health and Wellbeing at Mornington SDS
At Mornington Special Developmental School, supporting the mental health and wellbeing of our students is an important part of our whole-school approach.
Our Mental Health Practitioner, Gen, has been at Mornington SDS since 2023 and brings almost 20 years of experience working in mental health and disability in various professional settings. Gen has a special interest in Autism, ADHD, disabilities, and human development and behaviour. She is passionate about child-centred, accessible, inclusive, and neuro-affirming practice.
Gen works alongside students, staff, families, and other professionals, to support the mental health and wellbeing needs of our students. Through individualised support and collaboration, Gen helps students develop strategies to understand and manage emotions and behaviour, build resilience, and strengthen their social and emotional wellbeing.
Working within the school environment allows mental health support to be responsive to the individual needs of our students and integrated into their everyday school experience.
We are very fortunate at MSDS to have specialist mental health support as part of our broader wellbeing program, helping us take a holistic approach to supporting our students.
